In an epiphany overseas, that’s how the vocal group Sambaranda started.
in 2011, while living abroad, in the midst of a journey to find his musical identity, the arranger, singer and composer Rafael Carneiro found, almost like a daydream, the answer: put together his passion for vocal music with Brazilian music, thus beginning a thorough search of half a decade to find the other 6 singers who shared the same dream and passion.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! I love your arrangement and your group!!
You guys are really amazing!
_ Jorge Calandrelli
While still forming the group, Sambaranda already started to show their sound and style releasing some videos with original arrangements, which rapidly caught the attention of great names of Brazilian music as well as international. they were nominated for the CARA (Contemporary Acapella Recording Awards) two years in a row, which is the american award given to the best albums and recordings of Acapella music in the world.

The album release, Delírios Vol. 1, is their debut album, now fully formed having the members: Nani Valente, Penélope Celano, Ana Luiza Mastrella, Cristiano Santos, Rafael Carneiro, Flávio Borges and Diego de Jesus.
Parabéns pelos arranjos e pelo grupo. Demais!
In this first release, with arrangements by Rafael Carneiro, Sambaranda recreates compositions of Brazilian great masters such as Tom Jobim, Antonio Adolfo, Djavan, Guinga, Ed Motta, Gilberto Gil, Dominguinho e Marisa Monte. And also an original composition “Na Varanda”.
Arranjos excelentes, sempre um espaço para os
compassos ímpares e acentuações inusitadas, além da harmonização, afinação, criativo e de muito bom gosto. maravilha!
A Modern sound, the fusion between Brazilian music and elements of american black music, with elaborated rhythms and jazzy harmony is what the audience can expect from Sambaranda.
